DEAR MAMA

There is never an easy day to live with the pain,
I put on a show and cry in the rain,
Memories of good times and your wise words still linger,
They're my breastplate even though the void swells thicker,

You never gave up on me,
You believed in the man only you could see,
Words alone are just not enough,
I still search for you as I would a diamond in the rough,

You will always be the epitome of unconditional love beloved mother,
May your soul rest in peace till we embrace in a world unlike another.

DRILL SERGEANT

Life has a way of teaching,
to embrace upon a broken spirit,
and quiet down the restlessness of the heart.
To impart wisdom on a seeking soul.
We are alive because of the whispers in our hearts
Voices of loved ones that echo to the mind
Perhaps our paths will cross again
I will learn from your footprints
Just as I have learned from your wise council

I JUST WANTED YOU TO KNOW

Your smile sets you apart,
Words alone can't express what's in my heart,
Just the other day you looked my way,
Time froze for more than a moment I swear,

Though the days go by with the wind,
Your laugh lingers in the air and mind,
I find myself counting down the hours,
Waiting for you like the desert waits for the rain showers,

I wonder if you notice me at all,
Am I just another admirer on your wall,
I  quiet my heart with coated truth,
But the more I pretend the deeper grows the root.

KEEP YOUR HEAD UP

Sometimes we get knocked down,
We fail to get up before the bell rings and loose our crown,
Then things that brought you smiles make you frown,
Even the man in the mirror thinks you're a clown,
In held back tears your Titanic will slowly drown,

You're chasing shadows, even when the sun doesn't shine,
Your dreams  start looking like an abandoned vine,
And every step sets off a land mine,
We say things are okay and we're doing just fine,
But the battle within has a more fierce frontline.
